TARDEO: Mumbai’s badminton circuit is gearing up for one of its most anticipated annual events as more than 160 players from leading clubs across the city prepare to compete in the prestigious Motiram, Ullal and Kanji Cup, scheduled to be held at Willingdon Sports Club from May 13 to 17, 2026.
With a total prize pool of Rs 1 lakh on offer, the tournament is expected to witness intense competition as players battle for top honours across three simultaneous events — men’s, women’s and junior categories. The tournament continues to remain a key fixture on Mumbai’s badminton calendar and attracts participation from some of the city’s most prominent badminton-playing clubs.
The competition is being organised by the Greater Mumbai Badminton Association and managed and promoted by Badminton Gurukul, while Yonex Sunrise has come on board as the equipment partner.
A total of 14 teams will compete in the Motiram Cup for men, while six teams each will battle it out in the Ullal Cup and the Kanji Cup categories. Organisers believe the tournament will once again provide an ideal platform for both established players and rising talents to showcase their abilities.

Apart from promoting competitive spirit and sportsmanship, the event allows emerging players to test themselves against experienced competitors. We are looking forward to another memorable edition,” he said.
